Can someone please explain this to me who is ex-military?

Ok, so I am a military veteran who has some extenuating circumstances. Specifically, can anyone suggest to me how someone in my shoes is to become "normal" and live a typical American life? Specifically, what I mean is this: I got out of the Marines roughly six years ago, moved in with my bro in law as a roommate, got a manufacturing job, got laid off, and returned to school. Unlike most veterans, I did NOT grow up in the same small redneck town in the south or the midwest all of my life nor did I live in the SAME large city for all of my life while growing up. In other words, I got moved to different cities on three separate occasions as a child. One of my goals upon exiting the service was to be able to find someone, get married, FINALLY earn a college degree, and settle down. Sadly, NONE of that has come to fruition for me. After the plant that I worked at closed down, I started going to college and have exceeded in an academic sense. The problem for me is that college is socially isolating because I am almost an entire decade older than everyone else and due to the fact that a large majority of the people at the college that I attend are natives of the town that I live in. In other words, I am considered an outsider by them. The women who are in their early 20s at school also consider me to be too old for them and they won't even look at me. Moreover, I have met a few female military veterans at school and, WITHOUT exception, they are ALL presently already married to someone. The town that I live in is in one of the rocky mountain states and it is now all mostly active duty army and air force. However, the town that I currently live in FORMERLY had a thriving tech sector that has now all but dried up. So, perhaps I should consider moving out of state. I tried to get into some really good and DIVERSE colleges such as UT-Austin and UNC-Chapel Hill, but I wasn't accepted. I feel trapped in my situation because I want better for myself, but I feel that my hands are tied. The natives in the town that I live in absolutely hate Californians, Texans, and anybody who is from the southeast (such as myself). So, if you were me, would you continue to try to transfer to a college somewhere in the southeast where I grew up if you were in my shoes? I cannot afford out of state tuition so that is honestly the MAIN thing that is holding me back from moving at this point. Sadly, it appears as if my only option is to suck it up, stay here in this town, and graduate. Most importantly, my MAIN concern is that the college that I attend is NOT the flagship college of the state that I live in and I am worried that that will negatively impact my ability to find employment out of state because I am DEFINITELY moving out of state when and if I graduate from where I currently attend.

Did I cut my door frame too high for installing laminate wood floors?

I'm installing 12mm laminate wood flooring and I was following the directions about how to cut the door frames but I'm not sure I like how it looks. The directions say to line the wood floors up next to the door frame and mark 5/16 of an inch above that height to allow for expansion. Does this seem right? Will the floors possibly expand upward that much? After seeing how goofy it looked I started looking elsewhere for advice and everything else is saying to cut the door frames flush with the floor. Now the more important question, assuming I cut the frames to high, how can I fix this mistake? Caulk, quarter-round over door trim, anything other than replacing the door trim? Thanks.

Why won't my Sims 2 University expansion work?

I've had the Sims 2 for a while and just downloaded the University expansion pack. I kept using the original and noticed there was new stuff that I could pick from for furnishings and a few new actions. However, there's supposed to be colleges built into the towns and they aren't there. Since, I've learned I'm supposed to use the expansion disk to play, but it won't work. I try and it looks like it's going to work but the screen just shows a big white square that says "Sims 2 University Expansion Pack" and then it goes away and nothing else happens. I've tried looking online but I'm not really good at computery stuff so does anyone have any ideas that I should try?

Hi, I am trying to figure out why my Oblivion expansions don't work. I have the game of the year edition, which includes both expansions. I installed both to my hard drive, yet they don't work. I have tried reinstalling them but that didn't help. When the starting screen comes up, a message says 'loading extra content' for a few seconds then dissappears. Big problem with Sims 3?

Hi, a lot time now I have a big problem with the Sims 3. I have all the expansions except Generations and Outdoor Living. So, about every 1 minute the game crashes for about 15-20 seconds. This has happened a lot of times before but it was fine after some adjustments. Is he still "cheating" behind my back?

The Sims 2 DirectX problem. Yes, Ive tried everything. Help?

I am trying to run The Sims 2 series [all expansions and stuff packs] on my laptop. It has run on it before without any problems. I installed windows 7 professional 32bit last summer and am just getting around to reinstalling everything. I keep getting this Direct X 9 Error message stating I need a direct x 9 compatible driver. All my system specs are compatible, and surpass what is needed in order to run the game. All my drivers are enabled in dxdiag, Ive updated the geoforce 8200G M card drivers, tried running it in windowed mode and in and off compatibility mode.Ive also uninstalled and reinstalled everything and that isnt helping. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the heck could be wrong? In case you have to know, i have a hp g60-445dx laptop.

My nan died this morning, help?

My nan was 74 years old and was quite healthy even though she had diabetes and lung disease. She had been in hospital since Thursday because she had fallen over and then been diagnosed with a blood infection. I went to see her on Saturday and she seemed fine - gossiping about all of the other ladies in the ward, with them in earshot. Then yesterday I was riding my bike with a friend and we were about 5 miles from home, when he got a call from my dad telling us to come home immediately. First of all I thought it was something to do with my mum, but then she said that she was coming to pick us up from the park. I thought it was something to do with my dog, but when we got there my mum told me my nan had taken a turn for the worse and we had to go and see her. We got there and she was groaning, her eyes were half closed and she wouldn't let anyone touch her. It was really scary. She got moved to another ward and we stayed with her, she was trying to speak to us and said our names and 'I love you' it was heartbreaking. She was slipping into a coma and now had pneumonia. The doctor said that she should sleep so we left around 1am and went home. I woke up to find that my nan had died because they took off her oxygen mask to clean her mouth and she had stopped breathing at 6am. I went to he house and all of our immediate family was there. We were getting hundreds of texts from friends who had heard the news. My grandad told me that she was going to die anyway because she was so weak - the doctor had told him. At her house it was like she was sleeping in her bedroom or in the kitchen or she was still in hospital. Her hair was still in her hairbrush, and her clothes were still in the wardrobe. Her glasses were in the kitchen and her walkman was under her pillow. Tomorrow we will see her for the last time at the chapel in the hospital and I dont know what to do, help?

I recently had to replace my A/C compressor on my '94 929 and I chose to do it myself because when I called a couple shops to price the installation, labor would've been almost $600 plus the $400 I'd already spent for the new compressor and another almost $100 I spent on the new receiver drier and expansion valve, so I opted to install it myself since the only reason I was going to have a shop do it was because it's REALLY hot here in Louisiana right now and frankly, I just didn't want to do it. ($600 was exactly enough to change my mind, though.) Moving along, I've replaced the compressor and the receiver drier and all I have left, obviously, is the expansion valve. I've read on a few different sites that say it's usually behind the glove box. Well, I don't have a glove box (also, not a single cup holder, WTF MAZDA?!?!?) I pulled off the front panel on the passenger side and it's really hard to tell what's what, so any guidance anybody could give me as to what I would need to do to access it would be great! My computer is a Windows Vista-Ultimate. On my computer tower, the drives are DVD-ROM/CD-R/W on the top, and EXPANSION on the bottom, but the EXPANSION one does not function. I can't install Fallout 3, why?

Okay, I have a Toshiba with Windows 7. I bought the GOTY edition which has two discs. I have installed just the first disc ,which is Fallout3, and played to the very end. And I was wanting to go back and install the second disc (expansion packs) but my boyfriend uninstalled everything, but "saved" my character supposedly. And now I am trying to REinstall the first disc and it will not let me. Why won't my N64 work on my TV?!?

I have Old sims 2 EPs istalled on an old hardrive, can I still run it?

I have my hard drive in my old computer (I have 4 hard drives in total) in my current computer. I had every expansion pack for the sims 2, and I have lost some of the disks for them. Okay So I like this guy right? And I don't really know him at all. He used to stare at me a lot. Like tons. And So I though he knew that I liked him.
