My sims 3 wont work after update....what do i do?

You'll have to go to the sims 3 site and patch your base game. The updater now does updates in two groups, all of your expansions, then the base game. So what you did is when it updated, you just let it do the first half of it, leaving your base game in the same state it had been. There are lots of admins who would be glad to help you out on the forums on the official site. Just go and ask. A lot of people have been having this problem, me included. Have fun playing. (:
