What is Mormonism and why is it so important?

If I told you the story it would literally take up a whole page and then some. Basically they believe that Jesus came to the Americas and preached here. They also believe that Joseph Smith, a New Yorker, was a new prophet. He translated the Book of Mormon into English. They no longer allow polygamy, except for the Fundamentalists.
