Sims 3 question??????????????????????…

Okay so I have Sims 3 and the World Adventures expansion pack. Well, when the corrupt update that was sent out installed, it kept saying the 2 games weren't compatible. I kept trying to install the update to fix the problem but my computer would freeze. If I uninstall, then re-install the World Adventures expansion pack, would that possibly fix the problem?
