Why won't my N64 work on my TV?!?

PLEASE READ:Okay so I bought a new N64 and a new game(Ocarina of Time) because I couldn't find my old one from when I was a kid. So I was at my dads house, and it worked on a tiny old tv and my regular tv ( which are both kind of old) and I tried it on my little flat screen. At first, the red light would come on then go away in a second,I got mad and decided to deal with it it later, then it worked. Then I came back to my mom's house (the game cartridge is fine trust me) and it was doing the same thing, and after that one time the light wouldn't come on, it wouldn't come on at all. It actually worked at one point but I was retarded and bumps it and it turne off. The tv is a RCA TRUFLAT. I don't know when the TV came out though. I can't tell if it's my N64 or m TV. PLEASE HELP. It is also an expansion N64 if that helps.
