What does this guy want from me? Please help?

Wow. I am not really sure what is going on here. It almost sounds like he depressed himself in this conversation when it got to his lack of romance/love in his life. Maybe he was making a pathetic attempt to express an interest in you in this fit of depression? I don't really know. I'm a guy and frankly that baffles me.
