OK to have a noon wedding followed by reception at 5:30pm?

It is the only time the chapel is available and we really want to have our reception at another location in the evening. Do we need to plan food/events for guests in between, or ok to let them do that on their own (chapel is on a college campus with plenty of things to do/places to eat) and the hotel is nearby if they want to go back and relax.
