Could you comment on a Muslim's answer that Jesus' teachings on 'love your enemy' is a meaningless phrase?

I saw a security camera tape of a muslim store owner being held up by a guy with a knife. The muslim guy produced a gun and the robber surrendered. After that, the muslim guy gave him a loaf of bread and forty bucks and made him promise to only do good stuff. That, in my opinion, is what being a good anything (muslim,christian, or jew) should be about!
